Too short
Unless worn by a child or a very small woman this chain is way tooo small. It is 50 cm long which would be fine if it had a normal clasp but because it loops through the moon it is way too small and just falls off all the time.

You can expect to pay between R369 and R799
The answer is a big YES. Don't worry about tarnishing or damaging sterling silver necklaces. They are convenient to clean and repair.
Sterling silver is less durable but more affordable. White gold is more durable but comes with a higher price tag.
Any 925 sterling silver necklace will be a good choice and you won’t go wrong.
